IT TAKES A PITZONE OF VOLUNTEERS

The season and race day events would not be able to run without the support of parent volunteers. Outside of coaching there are plenty of ways to get involved with the team. It is an experience like no other and you wont regret being part of the stoke during the year and on race day!

ALL PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER FOR NORCAL RACE DAY AND/OR OUR TEAM PITZONE AT EVERY RACE.

PITZONE LEADS (2 for ea. Race)

Pit Zone set-up the advance ordering and purchasing of lunch/snacks for racers at each race. Race day is an all day event and races are frequently held in remote locations with no running water. The team provides lunch and snacks to approximately 60-70 people at race venues.

HEAD COACHES

ROB HOWARD & STEVE SCOTT

Recruitment of new riders: club day, working with returning riders, coordinating pre-season rides. Calendar and Schedule creation for riders and coaches. Coordinates parent meeting with other coaches. Coordinate Sunday ride leaders Organizes and participates in weekly meetings. Coordinates guest speakers & clinics. Communicates all race preparation information for racers health, wellness and bicycle preparedness.

CO-TEAM DIRECTORS

DUANE COUGHLAN & JULIA VIOLICH

Lead team and advise head coaches. Facilitate season planning. Manage team administrative duties, team roster (Teamsnap) / NICA rider pitzone, the coach roster & licensing, and team finances. Liaison with NorCal League.

TRAILER TOWING & EQUIPMENT MANAGER(S)

KEN BAXTER

A parent(s) will tow the team trailer to the race venue. They will work with the head coaches, the pitzone coordinater and team director to make sure the trailer and equipment are ready for each race. This responsibility includes purchasing and maintaining equipment like, chairs, bike racks, trainers, tools, etc.

FEEDZONE COORDINATOR

The Feed Zone is the only place on the course where racers are allowed to accept water bottles or fuel from the team. Each team is allowed to have three (3) people in the Feed Zone at any one time, and race coaching is not allowed in this space or anywhere on the course.

LODGING COORDINATOR

As soon as dates and locations are secured for the races - a parent will be in charge of locating & contacting hotel(s) for group discount and/or securing camping sites for each of the race locations. (We have a list and will Team Director will support you with any camp site reservations.

KIT DESIGN, ORDER & DISTRIBUTION

DUANE COUGHLAN

Team Director will be responsible for designing, determining size run, and ordering and distributing team kits. (socks, bibs, shorts, jersey, water bottles). (Volunteers will be needed for distribution).

SPIRITWEAR

Coordinates with team directors to design, order, collect rider/parents orders and distribute team swag (t-shirts, hats, sweats, etc).

Coordinates volunteers for all team races. Manages and updates Signup Genius for each race/event. Sends reminders to Race Day Coordinators/NorCal Volunteers to ensure they show up and execute their team commitment so our Pit Zone runs smoothly.

TEAM PHOTOGRAPHER(S)

SARAH ESLINGER

A parent will be responsible for identifying others to take photos of the team at races. This responsibility can be spread out between many parents.

Team Director is responsible for maintaining the budget/register for the team through out the year. Managing expenses and team purchases.

A parent will be responsible for coordinating parent socials, coaches dinner and the end of season awards celebration.

A parent will work with head coaches, team director to get riders to participate in your NICA league volunteer efforts with in local trail maintenance or workshops in our community.

A parent(s) in charge of obtaining sponsorship from community businesses (5 or more); a student will be responsible for keeping up good relations with sponsors: sharing the team’s accomplishments in the form of instagram, and thanking sponsors at the end of the season.
